12th Toruń Ancient Numismatics Workshops
On 26–28 February for the second time we joined the Traditio Europae Foundation in organizing Toruń Ancient Numismtatics Workshops. It is a series of lectures and practice-oriented events focused on the ancient coinage of Greece, Rome and other culturally related or dependent territories (Persia, Parthia, the Celtic World, the Northern Barbaricum). The workshops or intended for history and archeology undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as for collectors of Greek and Roman coins and for all those passionate about the Antiquity.
This year the main theme was coin forgeries. In our Laboratory we presented non-destructive XRF analysis, a method that is particularly useful in determining the alloy composition of a given piece.
The workshops were organized under the auspices of Institut für Numismatik und Geldgeschichte, (Universität Wien) and the Polish Numismatic Society.
