Gołuchów, October-December 2018
The project “Repair and Conservation Treatment of the Stone Bridge and Stone Interior Decor of the Polish Chamber of the Gołuchów Castle” provided an opportunity to apply our laser systems on a large scale. They were mainly deployed to treat and remove deposits from the stone elements of the bridge leading to the Gołuchów Castle and architectural details in the interior of the Castle’s Polish Chamber. A particularly precious object in the Chamber is a renaissance fireplace with a finely sculpted and convoluted gilded relief. After a series of trials, we managed to set optimum laser beam parameters to effectively and safely treat both gilded and bare stone surfaces. The key to successful treatment was the systems’ ability to emit laser with various wavelengths, i.e. 1064 nm to treat bare stone surfaces and 532 nm to treat gilding.
